About the event
- About CRE
- CRE stands for Connect/Reflect/Enact; the theme of this spring's program is "Body as Land, Seed as Birth." This program is part of a multi-part project integrating body knowledge and art creation to hold space for deep reflection on wounds both suffered and inflicted through systemic oppression existing in Asian diasporas here in the US and the homeland. This program will create an individual and collective community healing ritual process together, reconnecting and relearning our ancestral land and cultures and learning how to be a good guest on the land that we are living on.
- We will be Healing/Decolonizing Body as Land through Ritual practice. Each individual’s unique creative style will interact with others to create a communal ceremonial performance, thereby growing it into a learning space for community and healing where one can respect each other’s culture and the wisdom of ancestors’ rituals. It is intended to develop into a community space where people can practice by connecting social, political, environmental, climate and land issues and stories through creative art process into rituals.
- The CRE program is facilitated by Dohee Lee, an artistic director, cultural practitioner, performer and ritualist. She is accompanied by guest facilitators: Corrina Gould (Huichin, Ohlone land Indigenous Leader), Loa Niumeitolu (Tongan poet, community organizer, farmer) and Sol Rhee (5 nature elements & food facilitator, CRE cohort member).
When & Where: 4 Saturdays. March 18, April 8, May 6, May 20. 10am-1pm PT each day. While we'd love to see you at all three sessions, it is not required to attend them all. Please indicate which sessions you can join in this form.
